Tropical Storm Franklin, developing within the waters of the Caribbean Sea, is causing growing concerns about its potential impact on the Greater Antilles regions. Faced with this imminent threat, the World Food Programme (WFP) is firmly positioning itself to provide crucial humanitarian assistance to vulnerable communities in Haiti.

Under the guidance of Jean Martin Bauer, its Representative in Haiti, the dedicated team of WFP has actively mobilized to confront the anticipated challenges brought about by Tropical Storm Franklin. Acknowledging the unpredictable nature of these weather phenomena, WFP has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected individuals.

At the heart of WFP’s intervention strategy lies its ability to swiftly deploy vital food assistance to the affected communities. Should the need arise, WFP is prepared to distribute dry rations, thus ensuring that even in the most difficult circumstances, people will have access to nutritious food to meet their basic needs.

Furthermore, WFP has carefully designed mechanisms to provide cash assistance to up to 100,000 individuals. This innovative approach allows beneficiaries to select food items in line with their preferences and specific requirements, thereby enhancing their autonomy in this critical situation.
