Kenya Ready to Deploy Troops to Haiti Pending Crucial Financial Support
Kenyan President, Williams Ruto, announced today that the country is prepared to send troops to Haiti within the next 72 hours as part of a multinational deployment. However, this decision is contingent upon a crucial financial condition.
President Ruto clarified that the departure of Kenyan troops hinges on the disbursement of the first tranche of funding, estimated at over $230 million. Without this financial backing, the troops will be unable to depart the country to participate in the mission in Haiti.
Kenya, as a member of this initiative, is thus demonstrating its commitment to international peace and security. However, the financial condition underscores the crucial importance of financial support to successfully carry out such operations.
President Ruto has called upon the international community to honor its financial commitments to enable the swift deployment of Kenyan troops to Haiti. He emphasized that Kenya is ready to do its part in aiding Haiti during this challenging period, but financial support is necessary to actualize this commitment.
