Anti-Government Protest Disrupts Major Roadways in Port-au-Prince

Yesterday, on Wednesday, January 31, an anti-government protest erupted in Port-au-Prince, significantly disrupting traffic on the capital’s main thoroughfares. Flaming tires were noticed, creating a tense atmosphere that prompted authorities to implement emergency measures.

The unrest began in the Delmas region, spanning from zone 105 to Delmas 60. Demonstrators, expressing their dissatisfaction with the current government, blocked roads by setting tires on fire, causing major disruptions in traffic.

The situation particularly impacted the route connecting Pétion-Ville to Carrefour de l’aéroport, forcing vans to turn back. The flames and barricades made travel challenging, as protesters voiced their grievances against the government.
