Digicel CEO Addresses Sabotage Challenges Affecting Connectivity

Jean Philippe Brun, the CEO of Digicel, recently discussed the significant challenges the company has been facing since Saturday, September 14. He revealed that the essential international submarine cable, crucial for the company’s connectivity, was intentionally sabotaged near the Kaliko Beach Club.

According to Mr. Brun, this malicious act has severely impacted Digicel’s services, disrupting communication for many users. While an investigation is underway, he noted that the perpetrators of this sabotage have not yet been identified.

“This is an unacceptable situation that harms our reputation and our ability to serve our customers,” he stated. The consequences of this incident raise concerns about the security of telecommunications infrastructure in the region.

Digicel has called for collaboration from the community and local authorities to resolve this situation and prevent future incidents. As the investigation continues, the company remains committed to restoring its services and safeguarding its infrastructure.

This sabotage also raises questions about the vulnerability of communication networks, which are essential in an increasingly interconnected world. Digicel encourages users to report any suspicious activity and to remain vigilant against such threats.
