Gressier: Three suspected gang members killed in shootout with police
Three suspected gang members were killed in a shootout with law enforcement in Gressier, specifically in the “Nan Kolin” area. The operation, carried out as part of ongoing efforts to secure the region, involved a heavy deployment of specialized units from the National Police.
According to available information, the police were on a mission to neutralize an armed group that had been terrorizing the area for several weeks. Acting on intelligence, the police targeted the group that had taken refuge in “Nan Kolin,” a location notorious for harboring criminals.
During the operation, a violent confrontation erupted between the gang members and the police officers. After several minutes of intense exchanges, three of the assailants were fatally shot. No injuries were reported on the police side.
Local authorities praised the intervention, which aimed to restore peace in a commune regularly plagued by the criminal actions of armed gangs. However, residents remain on edge, fearing potential retaliation from other members of the group.
The National Police reiterated their commitment to continue such operations to restore law and order in areas affected by gang violence. More large-scale actions could be expected in the coming days to eliminate remaining pockets of criminal activity in certain parts of the country.
