Major Arms Seizure at Cap-Haïtien Port Signals Stronger Security Push

A joint security operation carried out on December 30, 2025, at the Port of Cap-Haïtien led to the seizure of illegal weapons and ammunition hidden inside commercial cargo. Units of the Haitian National Police, working alongside the Brigade for the Fight Against Drug Trafficking and customs authorities, intercepted three firearms, more than 1,800 rounds of ammunition, and assorted military equipment.

Police sources describe the operation as part of intensified efforts to curb the illegal circulation of arms in northern Haiti. Authorities note that the growing volume of weapons seized in recent months had raised serious concern among local law enforcement.

The seizure is viewed as a strategic blow against criminal supply networks operating through the Cap-Haïtien port infrastructure.
