The neighborhood of Rivière Froide has fallen into the hands of bandits.
In a poignant video broadcast last night, Jude Edouard Pierre, the Mayor of Carrefour, issued an urgent appeal to the authorities to intervene in response to the escalating takeover of the Rivière Froide neighborhood by gangs. Described as critical, the situation has driven numerous residents to flee their homes in order to evade the violence and pervasive insecurity.
Facing the camera, Mayor Pierre expressed profound concern regarding the rapid deterioration of security in the area. “We are confronted with an unprecedented crisis in Rivière Froide,” he declared. “Gangs have seized control of our streets, instilling fear among our citizens. It is our responsibility to safeguard our fellow citizens and restore order to our community.”
Residents’ testimonies reveal heart-wrenching accounts of families compelled to abandon their homes to escape the constant menace posed by gangs.
