Almagro and Henry discussed the insecurity in Haiti

The Prime Minister of Haiti, Ariel Henry, discussed the security situation in the country during a meeting with the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, within the framework of the IX Summit of the Americas, which takes place held in the city of Los Angeles.

“The issue of security has been widely discussed and is a fundamental requirement for the conduct of classes,” the president said in a message posted on his Twitter account.

In this sense, he indicated that Almagro has promised to “sensitize the partners in the region” so that they “support the Government in its efforts to establish security throughout the territory”.

The capital of Haiti has been plunged into a wave of violence since April that has killed at least 75 people, according to data published by the UN. In addition, some 9,000 people have had to leave their homes due to insecurity, attributed to clashes between gangs.
