Haiti’s Government deploys BSAP to strengthen police and army operations

As part of efforts to combat rising insecurity in Haiti, the Haitian government has published a new resolution in the country’s official journal, Le Moniteur, on Thursday, April 3, 2025. The measure aims to strengthen public security by integrating additional support into national security operations.
Official Resolution Targets Insecurity in Haiti
The resolution, composed of four articles, introduces a major decision: selected members of the Brigade for the Security of Protected Areas (BSAP) will be called upon to assist the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd’H) in the fight against crime and violence.
Agreement in Preparation to Frame This Collaboration
According to Article 2 of the resolution, the government will take appropriate steps to evaluate and deploy BSAP members whose behavior has met required standards. These agents will support law enforcement operations in targeted areas.
A formal memorandum of understanding (MoU) is expected to be signed shortly between relevant authorities to clearly define the terms and scope of this collaboration.
A Strategic Move to Strengthen National Security
Insecurity remains a major concern across Haiti. By calling on the BSAP, traditionally involved in environmental protection, the government seeks to expand its security capabilities and increase pressure on armed groups operating across the country.
This decision is part of a broader strategy to restore peace and safety, using all available forces to back the state’s efforts to regain territorial control and protect citizens.
