Jamhuri Day: Haiti Celebrates Its Strong Cooperation with Kenya

On the occasion of Jamhuri Day, observed every December 12 to commemorate Kenya’s independence and national sovereignty, the Republic of Haiti extended warm congratulations to the Kenyan people. In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Haiti praised the universal values shared by the two nations, including freedom, resilience, and sovereignty.

Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils Aimé expressed particular admiration for the determination and commitment of Kenyan soldiers currently deployed in Haiti as part of an international mission aimed at restoring security and stability. These forces, operating under the auspices of the United Nations, represent a valuable and exemplary display of African solidarity during a critical period for Haiti.

“Jamhuri Day reminds us that the struggle for independence, dignity, and peace transcends borders. It is a universal human quest that our two nations embrace with strength,” said the Haitian head of government.

This cooperation, bolstered by the deployment of Kenyan troops, is viewed by Port-au-Prince as a symbol of unity and South-South collaboration. Haitian authorities have expressed their gratitude to Kenya for its leadership and active role in the security mission, describing the initiative as a tangible testament to the brotherhood between the peoples of the Caribbean and Africa.
