Police ramps up efforts to reclaim gang-controlled areas in Port-au-Prince
The National Police is stepping up efforts to restore order in Delmas, Bel’Air, and downtown Port-au-Prince, areas heavily impacted by armed gangs. Under the firm leadership of Director General Rameau Normil, the Police has launched multiple operations aimed at dismantling the criminal networks terrorizing these neighborhoods.
Specialized police units have been deployed across various locations, with a clear objective: to drive out the gangs still wreaking havoc. Although no official casualty report has been provided, authorities assure that the police force is fully engaged in the fight.
In Delmas, Bel’Air, and downtown Port-au-Prince, residents continue to live in fear, caught in the crossfire between law enforcement and armed groups. Explosions and gunfire are frequently heard, yet people are anxiously waiting for concrete results.
Rameau Normil, speaking to the media, reiterated the police’s determination to bring peace back to these vulnerable areas. While the outcome of the current operations remains uncertain, the Police seems more committed than ever to keep up the pressure until the gangs are eliminated and stability is restored in Port-au-Prince.
