Rameau Normil Poised to Reassume Leadership of Haiti’s National Police

Rameau Normil is on the verge of returning as the head of Haiti’s National Police after his dismissal in November 2020 due to poor performance and incompetence.

Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe had expressed dissatisfaction with the National Police’s performance and criticized Normil heavily during an event at the National Palace. Normil, who took over in August 2019 from Michel-Ange Gédéon, failed to meet public expectations, as gang activities surged across the country during his tenure.
