17,000 Haitians have requested asylum in Mexico by 2022

For the year 2022, many Haitians are seeking asylum in Mexico. The Mexican Refugee Assistance Commission announced last Tuesday that Mexico has received 118,478 requests from Haitian immigrants who have requested the recognition of refugee status during the year 2022.

In the list of the number of asylum seekers for the year 2022, Honduras occupies the first place with 31,086 requests. However, in previous years, the candidates from Haiti were more numerous.

Cuba comes in second position with 18,087 requests and the third place is occupied by Haiti with 17,068.
