Biden Administration Firmly Rejects Sending Troops to Haiti
In a statement released this Monday, the administration led by President Joe Biden has firmly rejected any idea of deploying troops to Haiti to address the current situation in the country, as reported by the Miami Herald, citing a White House National Security Council official.
This decision comes as the country grapples with a significant political and humanitarian crisis. Several areas of the country are under the control of armed gangs demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry.
Despite calls from some quarters for foreign military intervention to stabilize the situation, the Biden administration has chosen to prioritize other options. According to the National Security Council official, this decision stems from a thorough analysis of the implications of such action and the need to respect Haiti’s national sovereignty.
