U.S. Coast Guard hands over 96 Haitians to Bahamian authorities

The US Coast Guard delivered this Sunday to the authorities of the Bahamas 96 Haitians who had been intercepted off Boca Raton, a city on the east coast of the State of Florida located 70 kilometers from Miami.

The US agency reported, through a press release, that the Coast Guard today transferred 96 Haitians, in addition to a Ugandan citizen and a Bahamian citizen, to the authorities, after being intercepted on a boat sailing in 32 kilometers east of Boca Raton.

The migrants, who left from Bahamas territory, were located when a helicopter crew alerted the Miami Coast Guard sector that a suspicious and overloaded vessel was near the east coast of Florida.
