American Sanctions Against Former Haitian Officials for Corruption
The U.S. Department of State took severe measures this Monday by imposing sanctions on former Haitian Prime Minister Jean Max Bellerive and his family, former Senator Nenel Cassy and his family, as well as former Senator Hervé Fourcand.
The sanctions were imposed over allegations of corruption and undermining the integrity of the Haitian government, according to U.S. authorities.
According to official statements from the U.S. government, these sanctions are aimed at holding these former Haitian officials accountable for their alleged involvement in acts of corruption that have had detrimental effects on Haiti’s political and economic stability.
The measures are part of ongoing U.S. efforts to combat corruption globally and support the promotion of good governance.”
