Haitian Diaspora: CEP Brings Voter Registration Services to the Diaspora Fair in Cap-Haïtien
The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) is stepping up its efforts to facilitate the participation of Haitians living abroad in the country’s electoral process. As part of this initiative, the institution deployed a mobile voter registration service at the Diaspora Fair held in Cap-Haïtien, providing members of the Haitian diaspora with an opportunity to complete voter registration procedures and obtain information about participation in upcoming democratic elections.
Through this mobile operation, the CEP aims to make electoral services more accessible to Haitians living overseas, particularly those attending the event or visiting the country. Electoral officials stationed at the fair are providing reception, guidance and assistance to individuals interested in completing the necessary registration formalities.
The initiative also seeks to raise awareness among diaspora members about the importance of electoral registration as a key step toward participating in Haiti’s democratic process. By bringing its services directly to an event dedicated to the Haitian community abroad, the CEP is creating an additional channel for engagement with citizens who wish to remain involved in their country’s political and electoral affairs.
The initiative reflects the institutional direction promoted by CEP President Peterson Pierre-Louis, who places particular emphasis on proximity, accessibility and broader citizen participation. Under his leadership, the electoral institution is seeking to strengthen its presence among different segments of the Haitian population, including communities living outside the country’s borders.
The CEP’s participation in the Diaspora Fair in Cap-Haïtien therefore underscores its commitment to facilitating voter registration for Haitians abroad and encouraging their involvement in the country’s upcoming electoral process. The initiative highlights the importance of including the diaspora in efforts to promote a more accessible and inclusive democratic system in Haiti.
