Escalating Gang Violence Leaves More Than 305 Dead in Haiti’s Cul-de-Sac Plain
The security crisis continues to worsen across Haiti’s Cul-de-Sac Plain, where fierce clashes between rival armed gangs have claimed more than 305 lives between March 5 and May 11, according to the United Nations.
The municipalities of Cité Soleil and Croix-des-Bouquets remain among the hardest-hit areas.The UN also reported that at least 277 people were injured during the violence. Between May 9 and May 14 alone, 78 people were killed and 66 others wounded, highlighting the alarming pace of the bloodshed.
The ongoing conflict has forced more than 10,000 residents to flee their homes in search of safety, deepening an already severe humanitarian crisis.
Meanwhile, Haiti’s de facto authorities have yet to announce any concrete measures to assist displaced families or provide relief to victims affected by the escalating violence.
