UN Chief to Visit Haiti Amid Escalating Humanitarian Crisis

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres is scheduled to visit Haiti on June 16 as the country continues to face a worsening security and humanitarian crisis.

During his visit, the UN chief will tour displacement camps in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area to assess the living conditions of families forced to flee gang violence.Guterres is also expected to hold talks with the de facto Prime Minister on the ongoing challenges facing the country.

In recent months, the United Nations has repeatedly warned about the rapid deterioration of the situation in Haiti, where more than 1.5 million people have been displaced by armed gang attacks and insecurity.

The visit underscores growing international concern over the humanitarian emergency and the urgent need for measures to restore security and stability.
