Cité Soleil Violence Triggers Mass Displacement of Over 10,000 Residents

Following armed clashes that erupted on May 10, 2026, in several neighborhoods of Cité Soleil, approximately 10,182 people, representing 2,353 households, have been forced to flee their homes, according to a new report from the International Organization for Migration.

The organization warned that the escalating violence has triggered another wave of mass displacement across the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area. Many families are now living in extremely vulnerable conditions, with limited access to clean water, food, shelter, and healthcare services.

As insecurity continues to spread, the IOM is calling for urgent humanitarian assistance to support thousands of displaced residents affected by the ongoing crisis in Haiti.
