At least ten people were killed during a new gang war in Petite-Rivière de l’Artibonite, said the vice-delegate of the borough of Saint-Marc, Walter Montas.
According to him, the majority of the victims are from the civilian population who had gone to support a group that was fighting another gang.

Clashes between rival gangs started on Friday May 26 and continued until Saturday May 27 in Petite-Rivière-de-l’Artibonite, Walter Montas said. According to him, it is the rival gangs who protect the population against Savien’s gang, because the police are absent and show no leadership.
“The Saint-Marc police station has been barricaded since January 10. The police are powerless, lack the material capacity to confront the gangs. There is no will from the top brass,” argued Walter Montas.
