Haiti: 1.5 Million Displaced as Government Faces Criticism Over Inaction
Haiti’s security crisis continues to worsen. According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), nearly 1.5 million people have been forcibly displaced due to escalating gang violence across the country.
Women and children make up the majority of those affected by this massive humanitarian crisis.
As thousands of families struggle to survive in overcrowded shelters and precarious living conditions, critics argue that the government has failed to take meaningful action to protect civilians or assist displaced populations. Instead, de facto Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé has come under criticism for prioritizing an electoral decree reportedly aimed at increasing control over the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP).
This move has further fueled political tensions while insecurity and human suffering continue to spread throughout the country.
