Political and Civil Society Groups Accuse PM Alix Didier Fils-Aimé of Interfering in Electoral Process

Several political organizations and civil society groups have accused Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé of attempting to take control of Haiti’s electoral process in order to benefit a specific political faction.

In a public statement, the groups expressed concern over what they described as an authoritarian drift that could undermine the credibility of future elections. The organizations firmly rejected what they called any electoral “charade” conducted in disregard of the law and democratic principles.

They demanded the immediate restoration of the independence of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) and called for the establishment of genuine conditions for free, fair, and transparent elections.

They also urged Haitian citizens to stand up peacefully and with dignity in defense of democracy, institutional integrity, and the rule of law.
