Haiti Raises Minimum Wage to 1,000 Gourdes

The Haitian government has taken a significant social policy step. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Serge Gabriel Collin, announced that the minimum wage for subcontracting sector workers is now set at 1,000 gourdes per day.

The announcement, made during a press conference at the FAES, reflects a broader effort to strengthen purchasing power and address social inequalities. Authorities emphasized that the increase will be gradually extended to other sectors to maintain economic balance.

Alongside Sandra Paulemon, officials also highlighted complementary measures aimed at supporting workers and fostering economic recovery, job creation, and long-term stability.
