Cul-de-Sac Plains Violence Triggers Mass Displacement and Rising Insecurity

Armed clashes between rival gangs in the Cul-de-Sac plains have forced residents to flee in large numbers, deepening Haiti’s ongoing security crisis. Since the weekend, several civilians have been killed, while many others have abandoned their homes in fear of escalating violence.

Businesses operating in the area are also facing severe disruptions, with some on the brink of shutting down. Local voices are raising urgent concerns over the absence of law enforcement, which has yet to respond effectively to the situation.

Meanwhile, kidnapping incidents have resurged across multiple communes in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area, further intensifying public anxiety and highlighting the deteriorating control of authorities over security nationwide.
