Haiti: Chad Deploys 1,500 Troops to Tackle Armed Gangs

Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby has confirmed the deployment of 1,500 troops in April to join the Rapid Response Force (FRG) in Haiti.

The move is part of ongoing international efforts to curb the growing influence of heavily armed gangs destabilizing the country. According to Chadian media, an initial contingent of 400 soldiers has already been deployed on Haitian soil.

N’Djamena framed the intervention as a strategic act of solidarity toward a fellow nation facing an existential security crisis.

This reinforcement is expected to strengthen operational capacity on the ground and provide critical support to overwhelmed local security forces struggling to contain escalating violence.
