Famous American singer Tina Turner, often referred to as the “queen of rock’n’roll”, died Tuesday at the age of 83, according to a statement posted on her official Instagram account. The artist died following a long illness in his home in Switzerland, according to what his manager added.
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Tina Turner, the statement said, adding that the American singer, naturalized Swiss, left behind her greatest work: her music.
Born on November 26, 1939 in Nutbush, Tennessee, Tina Turner began her career alongside Ike Turner, her first husband, first with the Kings of Rhythm, then as part of the duo Ike and Tina Turner.
After the duo disbanded in 1976, she had a long solo career marked by several successes including Proud Mary, The Best and What’s Love Got to Do With It, distinguishing herself in rock, but also R’n’B, soul, dance and pop.
