From August to October, the Dominican authorities have turned back more than 60,000 Haitians

The General Directorate of Migration expelled 60,204 Haitians to Haiti in the period from August to October of this 2022 through operations at the national level and detection in the border area.

The spokesperson for the Presidency, Homero Figueroa, released this data from the entity, which establishes that 19,441 Haitian nationals were returned to their country during the month of August, 18,107 in September and 22,656 in October.

Figueroa pointed out that these operations were carried out “following the line established by President Luis Abinader to respect the law and to expel, repatriate or not allow those who do not meet the conditions established by law to enter the country”.
