Haiti: a restaurant accuses the delegation of Gustavo Petro of an unpaid bill

A new controversy with diplomatic implications is emerging in Port-au-Prince. Viviane Vital-Herne, manager of Aioli Restaurant, claims that the delegation accompanying Colombian President Gustavo Petro failed to settle a bill following their visit to Haiti in July 2025.

According to her statements, the group’s expenses initially totaled $6,095, later reduced to $5,691. Months after the visit, she says no payment has been received.

The matter, reported by international outlets including Semana, is raising questions as no clear official response has yet been issued by Colombian or Haitian authorities, fueling speculation around the incident.
